Visualize two types of people. On one side you have a fearless adventurer. Bold and daring, she is a model of unwavering dedication and committed action. And she lives a life not soon forgotten. Now the other person is your almost invisible, average Joe, content with playing it safe. If you blink you’ll miss his life, but he considers it a small price to pay for the comfort of doing things the way he’s always done them. So ask yourself honestly, which type of person would you like to be? And better yet…

Which kind of person are you right now?

While most want to be considered the adventurer, their lives more closely follow that of the average Joe. The multitude seek the shelter of predictability and sameness. Their preferred home is to stay within their comfort zone. They consider it most prudent to walk the well-travelled path. And their lives mirror these values. Because they fear risk, they don’t reap the rewards. Because the unknown is their enemy, their lives value mediocrity and perpetuate mundanity. Does this sound like you? Are you living the life you always dreamed of? Mastering the secrets of success demand that you…

Don’t let anything get in the way of your goals

In the song “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” Diana Ross sings, “…”there ain’t no mountain high enough…ain’t no river wide enough…to keep me from getting to you, babe.” Do you let obstacles get in the way of your goals? Or is there nothing that will stop you from achieving your dreams? When chasing your goals, do see only obstacles or do you see opportunities? And you must ask, what do those see who are creating success? Those who create excellence view life as moldable to their desires. Fear is not their master. Crossing the river promises much greater rewards than any risks they might encounter. They don’t question themselves. They just take steps because moving forward means progress towards achieving their goals. The opposite of taking steps is standing still. Do you believe standing in place gets you anywhere?

Get friendly with enlightened risk

When a mountain climber ascends a peak she realizes risk comes part and parcel with the accomplishment of bagging the peak. But while the climber educates herself enough to know what she’s getting into, she realizes she’ll never get to the top until she starts climbing. If you need to prep yourself before acting that’s fine, but don’t neglect to take action. Don’t believe you can be prepared for everything. If you try to prepare for every conceivable scenario, you’ll become paralyzed with doubt as anticipating every obstacle is impossible. Embracing educated risk means you prep yourself just enough to take that first step into the unknown. Don’t be a frozen statue of fear. Embrace risk and then act!

Creating success is as easy as taking a step

A motivated person will cross that river. Even if it means they jump in without knowing all the consequences. It’s all part of creating, not hoping for, a meaningful future. But it begins with a step. Don’t let fear be your guide. You create your life. Fully realizing this gives you immense power as it grants you the ability to make your life however you want it to be. And you’ll know without a doubt that you aren’t going to get anywhere until you take a step.

An amazing life is made of commitment, enlightened risk and forward momentum. And it’s packed full of rewards and memorable moments the likes of which the masses will never realize. If you’re tired of holding yourself back, then go now and live the adventure of a lifetime!
